Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has won the award for Best Airport in Europe, in this year’s Asian Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain (AFLAS) Awards. The annual awards, now hosted and organized by Asia Cargo News, recognize leading service providers including air and shipping lines, air and sea ports and logistics companies. Winners were decided by the votes of the publication’s 15,000 readers, in a two-stage process. The nomination criteria were set by Asia Cargo News and, following a technical evaluation, the top eight firms in each category appeared on the final ballot. From these, the three firms receiving most votes formed the final shortlist, and the winners then collected their awards at a presentation ceremony held at Sky100 in Hong Kong - the highest indoor viewing deck in Hong Kong, located in its tallest building, the International Commerce Centre. “The response has been overwhelming, with thousands of shippers and industry experts voting, making the results a true reflection of industry expertise,” said Asia Cargo News publisher Darren Barton at the event. Adds Schiphol Cargo Snr. VP Enno Osinga: “Schiphol is known throughout Asia as a major gateway for Europe, and for having the largest share of freighter services from China to Europe. It is gratifying that Asian logistics professionals recognize the considerable work our community has done to streamline processes, and so create a world-class cargo hub.”
