Sea Star Line, Inc. has been named as an environmental award winner by the Chamber of Shipping of America (CSA).

The awards were announced at a dinner ceremony in the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, DC on Veterans Day, November 11. Maritime Administrator, David T. Matsuda and Rear Admiral Brian Salerno, Deputy Commandant for Operations, U.S. Coast Guard participated in the award ceremony.'In order to receive the award, the company's vessels must have operated for at least two years without environmental incident. All of Sea Star Line's vessels easily exceeded the required performance thresholds.

Joseph J. Cox, President & CEO of CSA said, 'These awards celebrate the dedication to environmental excellence of our seafarers and the company personnel shore-side who operate our vessels to the highest standards. In today's world, it seems our industry only gets front-page news when spills or other environmental problems occur. It is encouraging to see how many vessels go for years achieving environmental excellence. It should be clear to the American public that we in the maritime industry take our stewardship of the marine environment very seriously.'

'We focus intensely on our environmental responsibilities, and are proud of our achievements,' said Steve Hastings, president of Sea Star Line. 'From our Green Office standards, to ISO 1400 certification, to efficient front-line operations, our team has made exceptional efforts to ensure that we meet our environmental commitments. This type of official recognition by the CSA affirms the quality of those efforts.'
