SHIFT Freight, an asset-light LTL carrier that’s dedicated to changing the way companies think about freight, recently announced the addition of its newest member, Kurt Watkins, appointed as Vice President of Sales & Strategy. Previously working for a prestigious global logistics company for eight years, Watkins was consistently acknowledged for his ongoing achievements. He placed in the company’s national sales contest several years in a row for growing districts and developing sales teams. Moving up the ladder from sales representative to District Sales Manager after just a year, Watkins now brings with him an array of knowledge and insight to further enhance SHIFT’s growing salesforce and progressive approach. “I’m ecstatic to have the opportunity to help build a company with such promise that’s already established such a stellar reputation after less than a year of business,” said Watkins. “As the Vice President of Sales & Strategy, my overall goal is to build an environment that’s results-oriented, productive, ethical and inspiring so SHIFT can continue on its path as the most forward-thinking, smart concept in freight.”  As Vice President of Sales & Strategy, Watkins will be responsible for recruiting talent and conducting training for the budding sales team. With Watkins’ additional guidance, SHIFT projects doubling its salesforce over the next three months. Watkins will manage key customer relationships while developing a team of sales representatives devoted to communicating SHIFT’s brand in the marketplace. “We looked long and hard for someone who embodies SHIFT’s culture and strength to build the business, and when we found Kurt, it was clear that he’s the perfect fit given his extensive background in logistics and passion for the industry,” said Tommy Skinner, Vice President of SHIFT. “This is such a pivotal position for our organization and we’re very eager for Kurt’s contributions to continue advancing SHIFT’s growth, both in partnerships and staff.” Starting with Watkins’ new role, SHIFT plans to continue gradually developing a management team in the upcoming years and expects to grow to 4x its current size from year to year.
