Non-vessel-operating common carrier Shipco Transport has started new direct less-than container load services from New York to Rio de Janeiro and Itajai (Navegantes) Brazil in conjunction with longtime WorldWide Alliance partner Allink Transportes Internacionais.

The new services will significantly improve transit times from U.S. North East, Midwest and Pacific North West origins feeding into the direct services from New York. The biggest transit time gain will be from New York to Rio de Janeiro saving 7 days and for Itajai saving 5 days versus the traditional route via load port Miami. "These new services represent the next step in the natural expansion of our already extensive service package from U.S.A. to Brazil. With the recently launched Miami to Manaus, Houston to Rio De Janeiro and the two new services from New York, Shipco is on a continued path of growth in direct service offerings to the freight forwarding community” said Niels Nielsen, vice president for the NVO's U.S. LCL exports. The New York to Itajai and Rio de Janeiro services are Shipco's 11th and 12th launched this year, for a market leading total of 253 direct LCL Export services.
