Ocean carriers have announced new general rate increases (GRIs) for eastbound cargo from Far East and Indian sub-continent origins to the US and Canada. These GRIs are expected to go into effect on May 1, 2014. West Coast Ports Shipments to the West Coast of Canada and the US; points within trucking range of West Coast ports of discharge (Group 4 destinations) $240 USD per 20’ $300 USD per 40’ $338 USD per 40’ HC $380 USD per 45’ $6 USD w/m, min $6 Other Destinations Shipments to US and Canadian East Coast destinations; East Coast all-water and inland points, including inland points from Vancouver/Prince Rupert; shipments via inland MLB intermodal service, and to US Gulf port destinations $320 USD per 20’ $400 USD per 40’ $450 USD per 40’ HC $506 USD per 45’ $6 USD w/m, min $8 As a result of the increases imposed by the steamship lines, previously quoted rates may be subject to the above GRIs.
