Sean Strawbridge, an executive at Ports America, has been recommended by Port of Long Beach Executive Director Richard Steinke for appointment as the Port’s Managing Director of Trade Relations and Port Operations.

The Board of Harbor Commissioners will consider the appointment at its regularly scheduled meeting Monday, January 3. The Managing Director oversees the Port’s Trade Relations and Port Operations Bureau, which includes the Communications, Maintenance, Security and Trade Relations divisions. He will report to Deputy Executive Director J. Christopher Lytle.

“Sean is a highly respected leader in the maritime industry, and understands what it’s going to take for the Port of Long Beach to stay competitive as we emerge from the recession,” Steinke said. “He will be a tremendous addition to the Port’s executive management team.”

Strawbridge is currently the Director of Corporate Development at Ports America, one of the largest terminal operator and stevedoring companies in the United States. He has nearly 25 years of experience in the maritime and air transportation industries, in a diversity of disciplines including finance, sales, operations, information technology and corporate development. Strawbridge previously held positions with US Airways (formerly America West Airlines), Sea-Land Service, Inc., and Marine Terminals Corporation.
