'Best Commercial Strategy' for new Ex London Services

TAM Brazilian Airlines, the largest airline in Brazil, has appointed Globe Air Cargo as its exclusive GSA partner in the UK and Ireland to support the launch of its new daily services from London Heathrow to Sao Paulo.

In addition to Sao Paulo, the airline's A330 passenger and cargo services will offer on-forwarding destinations including Santiago, Buenos Aires, Montevideo and all major cities within Brazil. TAM expects annual volume from the UK to exceed four million kilos.

Commenting on the decision to choose Globe Air Cargo, TAM's Cargo Director, Marcelo Rodrigues, said, 'Globe Air Cargo was selected by TAM because it has the best commercial strategy for TAM's launch of operations from the UK and for the further development of our cargo business from this important new market. In our opinion, it also has the best management, team, infrastructure and call center."

Mark Pulling, Managing Director of Globe Air Cargo for the UK and Ireland, said, 'The contract to represent TAM was a highly sought-after business opportunity that was hotly contested by a large number of the UK's GSA community. It is rare that a new airline launches services from a major airport gateway such as London Heathrow to as prime a cargo market as Brazil and that is why we are so delighted that our tender was successful.

'Our track record on behalf of major airlines, our reservations management capability, large UK and Ireland sales team and network of offices were all key factors in our success. There is already huge interest from the freight forwarding industry in the extra capacity TAM is providing to Brazil and we expect strong load factors from day one.'
