Thomas J. Delaney, a proven leader in the area of marine terminal operations and sales, has been named President of Portwide Cargo Securing Co. Inc., which supplies lashing services throughout the Port of NY/NJ. The announcement was made by Christopher Guido, owner of Portwide. Most recently, Tom served as Senior Director, Sales and Marketing for APM Terminals (North America) Inc., out of the Elizabeth, NJ office.

Tom joined APM Terminals as Vice President, Labor Relations, in 2006. He was involved with matters related to the ILA Master Contract and the implementation of new technology. He also served on the Board of Directors for both USMX and NYSA and served as trustee on several industry pension and benefits plans. He assumed his most recent position in 2008. There he was principal liaison with container carriers and BCOs. Under his leadership, the terminals effectively expanded its business model from proprietary operator to third-party service provider.   He worked to plan, develop and lead sales efforts for multiple marine terminals in the US and for inland facilities in Central and South America and utilized business relationships developed over 20 years as the primary resource to exceed sales expectations. Prior to joining the AP Moller Maersk organization, Tom Delaney spent 15 years as Senior Vice President/Co-owner of the Columbia Group of Companies, Liberty Corner, NJ, where he held a variety of positions in different functional areas; progressing from Port Manager in Boston to Senior Vice President/Co-owner. He expanded business from primarily container-on-barge provider to include container drayage, depot operations and maintenance and repair. "Tom Delaney brings a cadré of knowledge to Portwide that will allow us to successfully fulfill our business mission, while allowing us to examine a wider role in port relationships and services," said Mr. Guido. "We know he will bring many positive milestones to our company." In announcing his departure from APMT, Jonathan R. Goldner said: "Tom's career at APMT has spanned labor relations and commercial.  He has consistently brought passion and teamwork to the job." A 1986 graduate of the US Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, Tom worked at Hanjin Container Lines in New Jersey as Assistant Marine Manager from 1987-1988 and then joined Sea-Land Service in Boston from 1988-1990, ascending from Marine Manager to Port Manager. He is a retired Lieutenant in the US Naval Reserve. Tom is active in various transportation organizations, including the Foreign Commerce Club of NY/NJ and CONECT. He is the father of two grown children.
