On November 4, the multipurpose ship BCC Delaware arrived at the Port of Palm Beach with a transformer for the St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plant.  The transformer weights 489,000 lbs. is designed to replace an aging transformer currently in use at the nuclear plant.

The transformer is being transferred from the BCC Delaware to a mammoth Trail King trailer and will be transported to the St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plant by McTyre Trucking Co. Inc. of Orlando.  The transformer is scheduled to leave the Port of Palm Beach early on Saturday, November 6, 2010.

Port Chairman Blair Cilkin was pleased that “the Port of Palm Beach had the capacity and flexibility to facilitate the delivery of this transformer which is a vital component in ensuring that south Florida has a reliable power supply.”
