The National Academies Transportation Research Board will hold its 85th annual meeting from Jan. 22 to Jan. 26 in Washington, DC. One of the largest forums in the world on transportation research, policy, and practice, the event will include 500 sessions at which more than 2,600 papers and presentations will be discussed among nearly 9,500 participants. This year’s theme, ‘Transportation 2025: Getting There From Here,’ will focus on critical issues facing transportation over the long term. Funding, the roles of transportation institutions, and the future of the transportation work force will be addressed

Ralph Cicerone, president of the National Academy of Sciences, will be the featured speaker at the Chairman’s Luncheon from noon to 2:00 p.m. on Jan. 25. Balcony seating without lunch is available for press registrants. Tickets, which cost $55, are required for the luncheon and table seating.

The meeting will be held in three hotels: the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, 2660 Woodley Road, N.W.; the Omni Shoreham Hotel, 2500 Calvert St., N.W.; and the Hilton Washington Hotel, 1919 Connecticut Ave., N.W. All three hotels will have newsrooms: Room 8205 at the Marriott; the Committee Room at the Omni Shoreham; and the Terrace Conference Room at the Hilton.
