The Annual 'Trucking for Sarcoma' Event was held in late July. International Sarcoma Week ran from July 18 to July 25 and Marine Transport Company was a major participant. The trucking company's 450 members helped raise awareness of cancer sarcoma with 'Sarcoma Knows No Borders' placards on their trucks. Marine Transport employees from its nine terminal locations in Newark, Baltimore, Norfolk, Charleston, Savannah, Atlanta, Columbus, Ohio and Chicago handed out 800 brochures detailing information about Sarcoma and in particular, Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor. The drivers covered over 160,000 miles during the week driving throughout the East Coast, Ohio Valley and Chicago metro regions. With corporate headquarters in Mountainside, NJ, Marine Transport is an intermodal freight carrier with a 48 state, custom bonded authority, serving ten cities on the Atlantic Seaboard and in the Midwest.

This year's 'Trucking for Sarcoma' Event raised $30,000. International Sarcoma Week is held every July. The GIST Cancer Awareness Foundation (GCAF) headed by Brian McBride of Atlantic Container Line is seeking sponsorships for the 2011 Event and donations for education and research for GIST, a deadly rare cancer.
