Russian companies have increased their orders from Turkish firms after Moscow stopped imports of most food from the West in retaliation for U.S. and EU sanctions over Ukraine, a Turkish exporters' group said. "Demand from Russia for Turkish products increased after limits to trade with the U.S. and EU were introduced," Turkish Exporters Assembly Chairman Mehmet Buyukeksi said in written answers to questions from Reuters. "We expect a Russian delegation to visit Turkey next week within this framework," he said. Last week, Moscow banned imports of most food from the West in retaliation against sanctions over Ukraine, a stronger than expected measure that isolates Russian consumers from world trade to a degree unseen since Soviet days. Buyukeksi said he expected a significant increase in poultry and seafood exports, and that Turkey could also meet increased demand for fruit and vegetables. He said his organization was working closely with the economy and agriculture ministries to simplify procedures for exporting to Russia. (Reuters)
