TAP Portugal and US Airways have awarded new cargo handling contracts to Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) in Miami.

The new contracts began in early June 2011. For TAP, WFS will provide cargo warehousing and customer service for the airline's five Airbus A330 flights a week. TAP is expected to carry around 2,700 tons of cargo per annum on the new route.

TAP already works with WFS in New York Newark and Boston in North America as well as Brussels, Paris CDG, Orly, Nice, Madrid and Barcelona.

US Airways has appointed WFS to handle cargo warehousing, customer service and international mail linehauls in Miami. US Airways serves the airport with 65 flights a week with an annual cargo uplift of 1,800 tonnes. WFS handles cargo for US Airways at 12 other airports in North America.

John Gemmel, Senior VP Cargo Sales North America of WFS North America, said: 'We have been successful in winning these new contracts due to a combination of the relationships we have established with TAP Portugal and US Airways at other locations in the WFS global network and competitive pricing.'
