UASC names M.V. Mayssan

On May 19th, 2008, at HHI Ulsan, South Korea, and in the presence of distinguished guests and HHI senior officials, UASC B.O.D. Member-IRAQ Mr. Dhia Habeeb Faris Al-Khayoun did the honors of naming the fourth vessel M.V. Mayssan bearing the Bahraini National Flag. UASC ‘s management and other key officials also attended the occasion.

M.V. Mayssan delivered to UASC on 19th May, 2008 is a high-speed vessel with fuel- efficient engine and capacity up to 6,919 teus, will definitely benefit UASC customers through an optimization of services.

‘Mayssan’ means plenty of fresh water and thereby it symbolizes life and prosperity.

UASC had contracted to build eight new generation containerships with a South Korean company specializing in shipbuilding ’ Hyundai Heavy Industries Company Limited, Ulsan in March 2005 at a total cost of US $850 million. M.V. Mayssan will join M.V. Al Safat, M.V. Hatta and M.V. Al Bahia the first three of the eight vessels delivered to UASC deployed in the Asia-Europe Container service, and these ships form part of UASC’s strategic expansion plans.

Mr. Al-Khayoun, speaking on the occasion, thanked HHI, Schiffko and the UASC team for their hard work and timely delivery of M.V. Mayssan. He also appreciated HHI Management’s warm hospitality and thanked the guests for attending the celebrations. Finally, he wished the very best for UASC and HHI.
