United Arab Chemical Carriers, Ltd. announced the appointment of Mr. Jens Groenning as its Chief Executive Officer. He brings with him nearly 17 years experience in Shipping; starting and working with Knud I Larsen from 1991 until the company was purchased by Tschudi & Eitzen in 2001 by which time he had risen to Managing Director of KIL Singapore Pte Ltd. UACC Chairman, Mr. Ken Bloch Soerensen, was quoted as saying ‘The appointment of a CEO has been long awaited but we believe our patience has been rewarded. We are very happy that Jens Groenning is joining us. We believe he has the right background and experience to drive UACC on to fulfill the ambitions we have for the company.’

Mr. Groenning said ‘I am truly looking forward to the challenges of establishing this new and promising company. I am very glad to have been offered the helm to steer it forward in its ambitious plans.’

UACC was established in July last year by United Arab Shipping Company (S.A.G.) together with other strategic investors from GCC countries. It has contracted ten 45000 dwt IMO II chemical tankers New Buildings for delivery in 2011/12 and in its aim to develop a fleet of medium to long range product tankers has so far taken delivery of one and has confirmed purchases of five further vessels due to deliver in the next 6/7 months.
