Following the passage of the WRRDA conference report out of the U.S. House this afternoon, South Carolina Ports Authority President and CEO Jim Newsome released the following statement: “We applaud the passage of the Water Resources Reform and Development Act through the U.S. House today and the resolute support of South Carolina’s entire House delegation. This bill includes language that addresses our priorities, specifically, a seamless transition into construction for the Charleston Harbor deepening project and the possibility to secure channel maintenance funding for the Port of Georgetown. With the House’s passage, we look forward to the U.S. Senate voting on the bill and the President’s signature in the coming days.”
