Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) has strengthened its position as the largest cargo handling at London's Heathrow Airport by winning a new contract from Continental Airlines and acquiring the lease on a further 60,000 tonnes capacity cargo terminal.

Continental has transferred its business to WFS to join forces with merger partner, United Airlines, a longstanding WFS customer in the UK.

To accommodate this growth, WFS has taken a lease on Building 551 in the World Cargocentre at Heathrow. This has increased its overall on-airport and off-airport capacity in London to 250,000 square feet.

Continental Airlines operates seven flights a day from Heathrow to Newark and Houston using Boeing 777 and 757 aircraft with up to 65 tons of daily cargo capacity across all flights.
