New ramp and cargo handling contracts have been gained by WFS in North America from Spirit Airlines and Icelandair.

WFS has won a passenger and ramp contract from Spirit for its new four-times daily flights to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. The airline welcomes 21,000 passengers a month on its flights from the airport and is now adding a fifth daily frequency.

At Washington National Airport, WFS will also provide passenger and ramp handling for Spirit Airlines' four Airbus A319 flights a day. These services carry some 16,000 passengers departing from the airport each month.

Icelandair has appointed WFS in both Washington Dulles and Halifax, Canada. The airline commenced five B757 flights a week from Washington in May, which will operate through to mid-October. The contract gives WFS responsibility for passenger, ramp and cargo handling.

In Canada, WFS is providing passenger and ramp services for Icelandair's three times weekly seasonal service from Halifax International Airport. The contract represents an extension of the three-year relationship between WFS and the airline at the airport.

Glenn A. Rutkowski, WFS' Senior Vice President, Passenger Terminal Services in North America, said: 'We have been successful in gaining these new contracts through a combination of existing relationships, service reputation and pricing. We hope to continue to grow the business partnership between WFS and both airlines.'
