World Shipping, Inc., has announced the creation of its newest subsidiary, World Distribution Services LLC. This new company began operations on July 1, 2014 and is a part of the company’s plan to create a suite of service offerings that provide a full range of supply chain solutions.  World Distribution Services (WDS) is an asset-based company consisting of the warehousing, distribution, and truck brokerage services formerly marketed as CPG Distribution Services, a division of ContainerPort Group, Inc. WDS will operate six proprietary warehouse/distribution centers in addition to its extensive, nationwide 4PL locations. The company also operates seven intermodal Class I rail facilities and the Columbus CTF which offers bulk agricultural transload services, specialized heavy and oversize transloading capabilities, and private intermodal rail service. WDS currently employs in excess of 130 employees and has developed an aggressive business plan over the next 3 years.  The company also announced that David N. Messer has been promoted to President of World Distribution Services, effective July 1, 2014. Messer joined subsidiary ContainerPort Group in 1996 with extensive executive backgrounds from Crowley Maritime and NYK Line, including time as president of Centennial Express Corporation. Messer has led ContainerPort Group’s transportation, terminal and rail operations, and more recently been at the helm of the company’s rail, CTF and CPG Distribution Services as Executive Vice President.
