Xata Corporation, the leader in trucking compliance and fleet optimization software, today announced it is integrating and reselling ZoomSafer's award-winning software, FleetSafer Mobile and FleetSafer Vision, both of which can be customized to a fleet's specific mobile phone policies.

FleetSafer Mobile enforces a fleet's safe-driving policies and runs alongside Xata Turnpike on mobile and smartphones. Xata Turnpike currently runs on consumer-grade and ruggedized mobile phones without driver interaction when the vehicle is in motion. With FleetSafer Mobile, no other native or third-party applications, such as texting, can be used on the device when the vehicle is in motion.

Xata's clients will also benefit from FleetSafer Vision, a software reporting tool that leverages telematics data in conjunction with phone records and email services to measure and report to fleet managers the information they need to identify at-risk drivers.

"Distracted driving doesn't need to be a growing problem," said Christian Schenk, vice president, product marketing, Xata. "Xata commits to doing all we can to keep drivers safe and in compliance, which is why we're excited to be partnering with ZoomSafer."

FMCSA reports show that "driver distraction is a primary contributing factor in 25--30 percent of crashes." The FMSCA report FMCSA-RRR-09-042 further indicates that "most transportation researchers believe the actual percentage of distraction-related crashes may be higher than 25--30 percent."

"With the addition of FleetSafer, Xata customers of any size can proactively enforce safe driving policies, which, in turn, will enable the fleets to reduce the number of crashes and save money," said Matt Howard, founder and CEO, ZoomSafer.

By giving fleet managers the option of monitoring driver behavior and prohibiting drivers from making calls, texting or emailing while driving, Xata and ZoomSafer are leading the way in making our nation's roads safer. "Even if our partnership saves just one life, we can be proud of the important role we are playing in fleet safety," said Schenk.
