Barcelona is again a port of call of the three ZIM services after the Israeli shipping company ZIM announced a restructuring of its services and partnerships worldwide. The company is offering the ZIM Container Service Atlantic (ZCA) at the Port of Barcelona, providing a weekly connection between the Mediterranean and the United States. The regular shipping line connects Barcelona directly with Halifax (with connections to Montreal and Toronto), New York, Norfolk and Savannah. Other vessels deployed on this line are ZIM Texas, ZIM Tarragona, ZIM Luanda, ZIM Rio Grande, ZIM Quindao and ZIM Constanza.  Also within the framework of the new alliance formed between ZIM and German shipping company Hapag-Lloyd, there are offered two more services since Barcelona that are: the weekly MPS service, West Coast Pacific, connecting the ports of Cartagena (Colombia), Manzanillo, Los Angeles, Oakland, Tacoma, Vancouver and Portland; and the MGX service, Gulf of Mexico and USA ports, connecting the ports of Miami, Veracruz, Altamira, Houston and New Orleans.  The first call in Barcelona under ZCA service took place on 5 October with the arrival of the container ship ZIM Monaco at the Barcelona Container Terminal (TCB), the facility where the ZIM performs its operations. The line has very competitive transit times, covering the route between Barcelona and New York in 13 days.  Port of Barcelona president Sixte Cambra stressed the importance of ZIM resuming its operations at the Port: "It is excellent news to have ZIM on board once again, especially with its weekly container services, which helps to extend our offering with the US and Southamerican markets, which is of strategic importance for Barcelona."  Meanwhile, the Managing Director of Europe ZIM, Saar Dotan said: "I'm very glad we were able to resume our direct calls in Barcelona, which has always been an important market for ZIM."
