Emirates SkyCargo will be introducing freighter services from Dubai to Djibouti from 18 February 2007.Djibouti, Emirates’ 15th African destination, will be served by the Airbus A310-300F freighter once a week. Operating every Sunday, Emirates freighter EK 4805 will depart Dubai at 0700 hours, arriving in Djibouti at 0900 hours on the same day. The freighter, Airbus 310-300F offers a gross payload of 39 tons and state-of-the-art technology and offers excellent performance capabilities. To Djibouti, Emirates SkyCargo is expecting to carry manufactured and consumer goods, machinery and IT equipment from around its network, particularly from the Indian Subcontinent and the Far East. Djibouti exports will include personal effects. The route may expand to include Dar-es-Salaam in the future as demand is evaluated. Hiran Perera, Emirates’ Vice President Cargo – Freighters said: "This new route represents Dubai's ongoing investment in East-African and a natural extension to support Djibouti's logistics requirements. Djibouti is a medium-haul destination for our A310F freighter route and will compliment our services in the area very well offering sufficient size and optimum speed.” In Africa, Emirates SkyCargo serves 15 destinations including, Alexandria, Cairo, Casablanca, Dar-es-Salaam, Djibouti, Entebbe, Johannesburg, Khartoum, Malawi, Nairobi, Tripoli, Tunis, Lagos, Lilongwe and Accra offering belly-hold and freighter services.
