WFS (Spa), a division of Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), has been awarded a contract by Nippon Cargo Airlines to receive and handle cargo in London bound for the airline’s Boeing 747F flights ex Amsterdam and Frankfurt to Japan. The new contract took effect on November 1, 2006 and coincided with the appointment of Air Logistics as the Japanese airline’s new cargo general sales and service agent in the UK. NCA’s cargo product was formerly sold and handled by All Nippon Airways. The two airlines have enjoyed a close co-operation in Europe for more than a decade but as a result of a change of shareholders in August last year, both carriers are now pursuing separate cargo strategies. Air Logistics has worked with WFS for over six years with a number of its partner airlines. “WFS provide a very flexible and comprehensive level of service on behalf of the carriers that we represent,” said Stephen Dawkins, Managing Director UK & Ireland of Air Logistics. “Their senior management has a clear understanding of the level of service that we expect and their operational staff deliver this without compromise. We look forward to continuing our long established relationship with WFS jointly with our new partner Nippon Cargo Airlines.” In an announcement to customers confirming these developments, Yoshiro Uosaki, General Manager Europe of Nippon Cargo Airlines, said: “We are confident these changes will make NCA far more responsive to the changing needs of the air cargo marketplace.” Patrick Roberts, Vice President UK & Ireland of WFS, added, “I am delighted that we are extending our working relationship with Nippon Cargo Airlines and Air Logistics. We previously provided handling services to NCA under its former agreement with ANA and it is a tribute to the services we have provided that NCA has chosen to stay with us following the separation of its business from ANA.”
