Forest products exports from Bolivia comprising timber and non-timber items from January to April increased by 8.4% compared with the same period last year, ITTO reported. Export earnings rose from $64 million in 2010 to $69.7 million this year. Manufactured wood products and Brazil nuts accounted for around 83% of the total exports of forest products. The balance of exports was made up of semi-finished wood products. The U.S. market remains the main buyer of Bolivian wood products accounting for $19 million or almost 30% of the total. The United Kingdom followed with trade amounting to $8.9 million (14% share) and the Netherlands with $4.8 million (7.5%). Other major markets were Argentina and China. (Lesprom Network)
