DGX-Dependable Global Express now is offering weekly less than container load (LCL) service from Los Angeles to Puerto Rico with additional deliveries to all points on the Island. DGX is utilizing a supply chain system of intermodal transport combining rail, truck and ship in a seamless combination that cuts transit time to only 15-17 days, some four days faster than the nearest competition. “Utilizing less expensive rail service rather than truck for the entire transcon portion of the trip with transfer of freight directly to the Jacksonville, FL. gateway allows DGX to offer a highly competitive rate with considerably less time in transit,” said Jorge Quintana, International Sales Manager at the Rancho Dominguez-based freight company. Departure from Los Angeles is every Friday with documentation required the previous day, Thursday, no later than 12 noon. Cut off time for consigned cargo is 4 PM on Thursday. DGX has instituted a secure loading system for all freight consigned to Puerto Rico using its Cargo Care Program that ensures safe and dependable delivery of all cargo. Quintana commented that West Coast-Puerto Rican service has not been given major attention by many in the freight community because of far less volume than from the east coast. “Little in the way of innovation of fresh thinking has been given to this growing route,” he commented. “We believe DGX-Dependable Global Express is bringing new traffic thinking to the West Coast-Puerto Rican market,” the International Sales Manager stated. Quintana also is confident that DGX will generate an increasing share of this market.
