Sea Containers, Ltd. announced that Robert MacKenzie has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of the company. James B. Sherwood, the founder of the company, remains Chairman in a non-executive capacity and Ian C. Durant, Chief Financial Officer and Interim Chief Executive has reverted to the purely Chief Financial Officer role. Mr Sherwood underwent surgery in November and handed over his Chief Executive duties on a temporary basis to Mr. Durant. Mr. Sherwood has now recovered. Mr. MacKenzie is a British national with an education in accounting and finance after which he qualified as a Chartered Accountant. His recent career has encompassed being Group Financial Director of BET plc 1991-1994, Chief Executive and then Chairman of National Parking Corporation 1995-1999, Chairman of PHS Group plc 2000-2005 and most recently he was a senior advisor to the Texas Pacific Group. Mr. MacKenzie will be nominated for election to the company’s board of directors along with Michael Ingham, a highly experienced sea transport executive, at the 2006 annual meeting of shareholders which will be held at the beginning of June 2006. Crowley announced that Rudy Leming has accepted the position of vice president, Caribbean and Bahamas service, a part of Crowley’s liner services segment. In his new position, Leming will be domiciled in Crowley’s Jacksonville office and will report to Rob Grune, senior vice president and general manager Puerto RicoCaribbean Services.Leming began his career with Crowley in 1984 when the company purchased Delta Lines. He was transferred to port operations at Petty’s Island and worked his way up from maintenance manager to terminal manager to director of port operations before being transferred to Jacksonville as director of port operations in 1997. In 2000, Leming was promoted to vice president of operations where he remained until this current announcement. Leming is a past recipient of the Thomas Crowley Trophy, Crowley Maritime Corporation’s highest honor. ‘Rudy is a longtime employee of Crowley with a strong operational background,’ said Grune. ‘This will prove to be invaluable in his new role. I look forward to Rudy bringing his energy and fresh ideas to the Caribbean Island Service. We believe that there is growth potential for Crowley in this service and we’ll be looking to him to turn those ideas into reality.’ Before joining Crowley, Leming attended school at New Jersey’s Mercer and Brookdale Junior Colleges on basketball scholarships. A knee injury ended his basketball career and he went to work in the maritime industry in 1976 on the docks in Port Elizabeth, New Jersey. Over the years, he has performed shipside surveys, cargo handling services and equipment maintenance for a variety of companies. GeoLogistics Corporation has named Mark Soubry to the post of Chief Executive Officer for its Canadian operations. Soubry comes to the position from Panalpina Canada, where he held a succession of senior management positions, including most recently Deputy Country Manager for Canada. Soubry reports directly to Alex Leivici, Chief Executive Officer of GeoLogistics Americas based here, and will be stationed in the company’s Toronto office.
