Total Quality Logistics, Inc. (TQL), a third-party logistics provider located in Cincinnati, Ohio, continues to expand with the addition of 12 new professionals. The 12 new employees joined TQL in six different areas of the company, including Sales, Employee Training, Carrier Development, and Customer Service. The expanded Atlanta operations joins the US headquarters in New Jersey, satellite offices in Florida, Texas, Virginia and California, and the Asia headquarters in Hong Kong. Tom Burgess has joined BDP International (BDP), as Sales Director for the Americas, including the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and Chile. Based in the company’s Philadelphia headquarters and reporting to John M. Bolte, managing director—BDP Americas, he will be responsible for sales and sales training, business development, marketing, strategic planning, global logistics solutions and customer relations. ‘Tom brings to BDP extensive experience in the logistics industry,’ said BDP’s Bolte in announcing the appointment. ‘He is an excellent addition to our team, and we are confident he will increase our penetration of this vast and vitally important market.’ Burgess comes to BDP with over 22 years of experience in transportation and logistics, having held numerous management positions with Emery/Menlo Worldwide, and most recently UPS Supply Chain Solutions, where he served as director of global program management. Lynden International promoted Luis Varela to vice president Lynden Mexico and hired Roger Obregon as district manager in Houston, Texas. Varela’s ascent through the Lynden ranks began more than 12 years ago as a customer service agent. During his tenure, Varela attained progressive responsibilities through several promotions and consistent high achievement. Over the past 10 years, he’s overseen domestic distribution and contract logistics operations at Lynden’s Mexico facility.
