CSAL (Canada States Africa Line)
Canada States Africa Line (CSAL) launched its new direct service from
Canada and the U.S. East Coast to South Africa with the sailing of M/V
“ATLANTIC IMPALA” on March 24th, 2008, from Montreal.
The main ports of call in North America initially were Montreal
and Baltimore with Savannah added in August 2008. South African ports of
call are: Durban, Richards Bay, Cape Town and Walvis Bay in Namibia.
The service started with 2 vessels and a monthly frequency, which in
September 2008 was improved to every 3 weeks with the expansion of the
fleet. Transit time between ports in North America and Durban is 22-32
days depending on rotation.
