In 2016, Raj Gupta was appointed Navis chief technology officer and senior vice president of engineering after a twenty-year career in Silicon Valley, including positions at Silicon Graphics and at Oracle.
Gupta served as vice president, engineering and operations at Oracle, where he spent more than a decade leading the development and implementation of enterprise software, SaaS products, cloud infrastructure, business intelligence and on-demand applications.
According to a Gartner Group report, demand for SaaS products is “Buoyed by lower startup and maintenance costs compared to on-premises application deployments, as well as the ability to distribute and share applications and documents through the cloud… software as a service (SaaS) is poised for rapid growth for at least the next four years.”
Gupta is responsible for helping to execute the Navis technology strategy for XVELA following the recent acquisition of INTERSCHALT, which is designed to deliver cloud-based solutions for vessel stowage and terminal operations and planning.
Gupta told AJOT that integration of vessel stowage and terminal operations requires a cloud based system to take systems integration to the next step.
Under Gupta’s leadership, Navis will continue to invest in the Navis N4 Terminal Operating System (TOS) to better serve customers as they grow and automate their operations in the future.
