JERICHO, N.Y. - Airport Plazas announced today the grand opening of the first public truck parking facility in New York City. The facility is located at JFK International Airport. The opening of the facility comes at a crucial time when the ban of 53 foot trailers on the Van Wyck has been lifted and now permits a more convenient access for trucks to JFK Airport and the surrounding area. The facility currently accommodates nearly fifty tractor trailer trucks with plans for further expansion in the future. The initial period is free and then after 20 minutes there are incremental charges that max out at $59.00 for a full day. The company has worked with NYCDOT, NYCEDC, the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey and other governmental agencies to bring a solution to a grossly underserved market. “I was amazed when we started the project that there was no public truck parking facility in NYC. The fact that the blogs directed fellow truckers to a facility in NJ was amazing,” said Stefano Pascucci, Executive VP Business Development. The new facility can be found in the heart of the cargo area at JFK International airport and is directly across the street from the newly built travel plaza that features hi-speed diesel dispensers for trucks, and a 10,000 sq ft food court that offers a 7-Eleven, Wendy’s, Qdoba and Max’s Pizza. The plaza also features an urgent care facility travellers can visit when looking for medical care away from home.
