Alexandria, VA - The Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) Leadership Team and other staff members, including President and CEO, Robert Voltmann, met with the White House Office of Public Liaison Official, Melissa Fwu, on the importance of the brokerage-based 3PL logistics industry.  Ms. Melissa Fwu, who previously worked for Secretary Elaine Chao at the Department of Transportation (DOT), actively engaged in an hour-long conversation and promised to take TIA's concerns and policy positions directly to the President and his top transportation advisors. “On behalf of our 1700 member companies, I appreciate the opportunity to meet with President Trump’s Administration about the real value our industry brings to the American economy. Our members are the backbone of the transportation supply-chain, and that message needs to resonate not only within the transportation industry, but throughout our great nation”, stated Jason Beardall, President of England Logistics and Chairman of the TIA Board of Directors. Additionally, TIA members discussed several key issues of interest, including increased infrastructure spending and funding, tax reform, frivolous lawsuits based on flawed “safety data”, autonomous vehicles, and the Department of Labor overtime classification limits.
