Singapore - AAL, one of the world’s leading multipurpose shipping operators, has been named ‘Best Shipping Line - Project Cargo’ for the fourth year running. The prestigious award was presented at the Asian Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain (AFLAS) Awards ceremony, held at the Singapore Cruise Centre. The project cargo award was collected by Felix Schoeller, General Manager of AAL’s Pacific Liner Service, who commented: “AAL is immensely proud to have won the project cargo shipping award for a fourth consecutive year.  Although we have expanded to offer truly global coverage, Asia remains fundamental to our operations and those of our customers. This important award is testament to the hard work of everyone in our organisation, both on land and at sea. It means even more to know that it was voted for by our shipping industry peers, esteemed customers and vendors.” Following a technical evaluation, the shortlisted nominees for the AFLAS awards are voted on by over 15,000 readers of Asia Cargo News, including shipping professionals, cargo stakeholders and logistics providers from across the world. AAL has gone from strength-to-strength in the past year as it continued to expand its global operations in the US and the Middle East, and established new services to provide its customers with flexible and competitive solutions across all key global trades.  It continues to operate the sector’s youngest fleet of specialist MPP (multipurpose) vessels and recently had a major fleet expansion, with the addition of seven 33,000dwt ‘W-Class’ ships. This makes AAL the market leader in the ‘megasize’ MPP segment, defined as vessels of 30,000dwt and above, and forms an essential element of AAL’s ‘total solution’ for breakbulk, heavy lift and project cargo transportation, comprising its Tramp & Project Solutions, Liner Services and Semi-Liner Services.
