The Grimaldi Group has announced an enhancement of its service to the Mediterranean by adding the ports of Misurata and Tripoli, LIBYA to its rotation.

The service, which began in late 2001, is operated together with ACL's North Atlantic linking to Grimaldi's Euromed Service with cargo being transferred at Antwerp. Eventually, it may be replaced by a direct service with RORO/Containerships between Atlantic and Gulf ports and the Eastern and Western Mediterranean.

ACL is calling Thursdays in Baltimore, Fridays in Portsmouth, Virginia, Tuesdays in New York and Mondays in Halifax. The ACL vessels arrive Thursdays in Antwerp, where the cargo is relayed to the Grimaldi Euromed vessel that departs every Friday. The Grimaldi Euromed vessels proceed directly to the ports of Malta, Salerno, Piraeus, Izmir, Ashdod, Limassol, Alexandria, Savona. Grimaldi vessels also serve Palermo, Valencia, Venice and Koper, Livorno, Setubal Civitavecchia, Gemlik, Toulon, Tunis, Barcelona, Lisbon, Ravenna, Monfalcone and Haifa. This new enhancement now adds the two Libyan ports of Misurata and Tripoli.

ACL offers through bills of lading for the uncontainerizable static cargo, rolling stock and machinery on mafi's to all of the above ports.
