As part of the purchase, AFN will absorb HA’s proprietary TMS, a scalable, web-based and mobile-optimized solution enabling faster transportation decisions. The addition of new technology and team members will enhance AFN’s existing LTL service offering, which is already a core capability for the company. More broadly, the added TMS and LTL capabilities will deepen AFN’s freight-management services for customers like Ocean Spray and more. Further, the move will bolster AFN’s position to capitalize on the continued eCommerce boom, as LTL optimization becomes increasingly critical for retailers to profitably deliver eCommerce. eCommerce comprises 10-20% of deliveries in the $35 billion LTL trucking industry segment, according to supply chain consultancy, Chainalytics.
