American Airlines has introduced direct services between New York JFK and the Spanish capital Madrid. The route complements the carrier's existing flights between Miami and Madrid and Dallas/Fort Worth and Madrid as well as services to the Catalan regional centre, Barcelona from New York JFK.

Operating using a Boeing 757-200 aircraft services will depart from Madrid each day at 10am providing for an early arrival the same business day at New York JFK and offering an ideal platform for express operators in the Madrid area wishing to have their documents and small parcels reach the US business city in a timely fashion. The return flight also provides a similar excellent connection with flights departing JFK at 17.40 for an 07.20 arrival at Madrid Barajas.

Commenting on the new service AA Cargo's regional manager, Kathleen Lesage says: "Our commitment to Spain is further enhanced with this new service which offers the freight community around Madrid great access to American Airlines onward connections to South and Central America from JFK. As our third service from Madrid directly into the USA we believe it shows our customers the truly pan-American nature of the service we are able to offer them wherever the final destination of their cargo."
