Global container transportation leader APL heightens its commitment to trade between the United States and Central America beginning June 30, when it adds a new third vessel string with fixed weekly sailings to compliment its existing CAX and MCX Service.

The first voyage of the Central America East Coast service (CAE) will commence Northbound from Acajutla, El Salvador, July 3. It will call at Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala, July 4, Corinto, Nicaragua, July 5, and arrive at New York July 10, where it will initiate its first southbound voyage.

Carlos Velez, Vice President of the Latin American Region for APL, said the decision to add an all water product to its Central American service is being driven by the region's growth potential, especially in wearing apparel, consumer goods and refrigerated cargo.

'The CAE demonstrates our confidence in the Central American region and will provide our customers with significantly enhanced capabilities, frequency and flexibility,' he said.
