ASF Intermodal announced the opening of the company’s newest intermodal drayage facility, which is located in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metro Area and is the firm’s second facility in Texas and ninth overall. ASF Intermodal’s new terminal is located at 1001 South IH45, Suite B in Hutchins, Texas. The new location will enable ASF Intermodal to provide expanded capacity to the company’s customer base throughout the Southeastern and Midwestern regions of the United States. ASF Intermodal president Michael Smith states, “We are extremely excited about opening this location. The Dallas market fits well with our existing terminal in Houston. A lot of freight moves back and forth between the two locations, plus it give us a larger footprint in Texas.” Smith continues, “Since we began operations three years ago, we have listened to our customers’ needs and built our growth strategy around that. Texas has been a good market for us and I am confident that Dallas will be successful, as our other locations have been. Over the next year we will continue to look for opportunities to continue to expand in the state. For example, our domestic division currently operates out of Atlanta, but I could see Texas being a good market for expanding that division as well. We will wait and see what opportunities the market brings and move accordingly.” Brisa Corona, who managed ASF Intermodal’s Houston terminal for more than a year, has been named terminal manager for the Dallas location. The new terminal opened with two office employees and five trucks. Company president Michael Smith expects that expansion will occur quickly, stating “I would like to think we will be 20 plus trucks in the next six months, plus an additional thee office employees.”
