ASF Intermodal has announced that the company has exceeded 300 trucks on the road, a significant milestone in the intermodal drayage industry. The company has also made a significant investment in its own chassis, which will be used primarily in Houston and Charleston. Of the chassis investment, company president Michael Smith states, “This is a new area for ASF, and it’s one that will ensure that our contractors have excellent and safe equipment, as well as allowing us to provide even better customer service.” ASF Intermodal began in 2011 with two locations in the Southeast and has now expanded to have dedicated intermodal terminals in nine key markets (Mobile, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Charleston, Memphis, Norfolk, Savannah and Chicago), as well as a Domestic Operations Division based out of Atlanta and Memphis. The company has a total of 320 drivers and 60 office associates working out of these locations and the corporate office in Mobile, Alabama. Surpassing growth milestones is not new to ASF Intermodal. The company exceeded 100 trucks on the road before celebrating its first anniversary in business, and growth has continued at a steady pace, leading to exceeding the 300 truck milestone early in the firm’s third year of operations. According to Smith, “With more than 300 trucks operating out of our strategically-positioned terminals, we can be a one-stop shop for our customers.” Our truck capacity has increased in all of our markets and we are poised for continued growth.” Smith explains, “Our newest terminal is Dallas. Less than three months into full operations, that facility is already at 20 trucks and we expect additional expansion there – and elsewhere – very soon.” He continues, “We will continue to grow in our current locations so that we can provide our customers with better equipment and to increase our productivity.” Smith states, “I attribute our growth and success to the team that we have created here at ASF and the overwhelming support of our customers and our driver fleet.” He continues, “Our employees and contractors keep a positive and winning attitude, and show such pride in their performance. This team is truly amazing and I am honored to lead such a great group of individuals.”
