Spotlight on Rise of ASEAN, Mainland China and e-Tailing More than 1,300 logistics and maritime services providers and users from some 29 countries and regions will take part in the third edition of the Asian Logistics and Maritime Conference (ALMC), November 7, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive CY Leung will open the conference, while Dr Patrick Low, former chief economist of the World Trade Organisation, will present the keynote address. In addition, some 40 logistics and maritime industry experts will speak at the day-long conference. Major Industry Issues Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) Assistant Executive Director Raymond Yip said that this year’s conference focus “responds to three major factors affecting the industry: the two new major markets of mainland China and ASEAN, new consumption modes and the prospects for shipping in 2014.” The first of the two conference plenary sessions will discuss how regional economic integration influences the development of the Asian logistics and maritime sectors.
