Camair, the new national airline of the Republic of Cameroon, has signed a worldwide cargo general sales agency contract with ECS Group.

EFIS AIR, the Paris-based subsidiary of ECS, will manage the Camair contract.

Camair launched operations at the end of March 2011 with a Boeing 767-300 passenger and cargo service linking Douala, Yaounde and Paris. The aircraft offers up to 15 tons of cargo capacity and operates five days a week on the route. This will increase to six flights a week in June.

ECS plans to open a new office in Douala to support the development of Camair's cargo product.

Adrien Thominet, ECS Group's Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, said: 'We are proud to have won this contract to represent the national carrier of Cameroon on a worldwide scale. The new airline was created by the decree of the President of Cameroon and he hopes it will become an inspiration to other airlines in Africa. We are confident Camair will soon become a major carrier in the African continent.

'We have already identified cargoes of medical equipment and products, telecommunications equipment and perishables shipments thanks to our large network and strong expertise in the African and Cameroon markets. We have also created a number of important bilateral interline agreements with other carriers to ensure we maximize the flight connections and revenue generation opportunities for Camair, notably from the USA, Asia and Middle East.'

Camair plans to extend its network this winter with new flights from Douala to Dubai and Guangzhou.
