Max Sauberschwarz, Global Head of Carrier and Gateway Air Logistics at Kuehne + Nagel, has taken over as Chairman of Cargo 2000. Having held the post of Vice Chairman of Cargo 2000 for the last three years, he will act as Chairman up to the AGM of Cargo 2000 in Los Angles in March 2014 when the Board of Directors will formally elect a new Chairman and Vice Chairman. Max Sauberschwarz succeeds Mattijs ten Brink, who has stepped down after moving from his post as Senior Vice President Sales & Distribution for Air France-KLM Cargo to become CEO of the Dutch airline Transavia. “Under the chairmanship of Mattijs ten Brink Cargo 2000 has been strengthened through a series of initiatives such as our investment in a new and scalable reporting system to handle more data from more members, the revision and updating of our Master Operating Plan, and improvements to our Phase 1 Airport-to-Airport specifications. At the same time, these and other enhancements to our quality management system underline the commitment of our membership. Now, we are looking forward to the next stage in our development and would be delighted to see further cargo leaders joining our initiative,” Max Sauberschwarz said. Mattijs ten Brink added: “The Board and members of Cargo 2000 have made considerable progress and I am confident Max and the other senior air cargo industry executives driving C2K forward will continue to implement our strategy and bring further benefits for our members and their customers. The challenging economic market has only helped to increase our focus on the value and importance of quality in the air cargo supply chain in terms of reducing costs caused by errors and eliminating duplication and unnecessary processes. This is essential for companies that want to retain their customers and grow their businesses. In this respect, Cargo 2000 members have a distinct advantage.” Air France-KLM Cargo has confirmed that Gijsbert Woelders, Vice President Operations, will take over as the airline’s Cargo 2000 representative. In 2012, Cargo 2000 members measured nearly 15 million air cargo shipments against its quality management system.
