Houlton, ME – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) are reminding travelers that the hours of operation at three ports of entry along the Maine/New Brunswick border will be changing this coming weekend. On August 20, the ports of Bridgewater/Centerville, Milltown, and Limestone/Gillespie will adjust their hours. The new hours of operation are:
  • Bridgewater/Centreville: 5 a.m. – 9 p.m. Eastern (6 a.m. – 10 p.m. Atlantic)
  • Milltown: 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. Eastern (7 a.m. – 11 p.m. Atlantic)
  • Limestone/Gillespie: 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. Eastern (7 a.m. – 11 p.m. Atlantic)
Following a review of operations, CBP and CBSA have decided to adjust the hours of operation at these ports to better align services. This slight reduction of hours, predominantly overnight, will also allow staff to be reallocated to near-by locations in Maine that have a need for additional staffing during busy times with higher traffic volumes. “We have worked closely with both CBSA and the local communities to reduce any negative impact where possible and the majority of local stakeholders will benefit greatly from these changes,” said CBP Director of Field Operations William A. Ferrara. Travelers should plan ahead and adjust travel plans according to the new hours of operation. Visit https://www.cbp.gov/contact/ports/me to view the hours of operations at all Maine ports of entry or http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/do-rb/provinces/nb-eng.htmlto view the hours of operation at all New Brunswick ports of entry to facilitate future cross-border travel. On a typical day, CBP welcomes nearly one million visitors, screens more than 67,000 cargo containers, arrests more than 1,100 individuals, and seizes nearly 6 tons of illicit drugs. Annually, CBP facilitates an average of more than $3 trillion in legitimate trade while enforcing U.S. trade laws.
