C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc , the biggest logistics provider in the United States, posted lower-than-expected quarterly results, hurt by higher expenses.

Second-quarter net income rose to $111 million, or 67 cents a share, from $97.2 million, or 59 cents a share, a year ago.

Revenue rose 10 percent to $2.71 billion. Operating expenses rose 14 percent.

Analysts on average had expected earnings of 69 cents a share, before special items, on revenue of $2.72 billion, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S. (Reuters)
