WinGD and HSD Engine collaborate to deliver methanol-fueled two-stroke engines

Swiss marine power company WinGD and Korean engine builder HSD Engine have initiated a Joint Development Project (JDP) to advance the development of WinGD’s methanol-fueled big-bore engines.  The aim is to deliver an engine capable of running on carbon-neutral green methanol by 2024, providing shipowners with a power solution enabling them to meet IMO’s 2050 target – and to reach net-zero emissions – with their next generation of vessels.

TAE Technologies expands operations, signing 99,638 SF lease in Irvine, CA

TAE Technologies, a Foothill Ranch-based private fusion energy research company, has leased a 99,638 SF facility at 9740 Irvine Boulevard in Irvine, California. Kidder Mathews Senior Vice President Oliver Ternate represented TAE in the lease. Irvine-based LBA Logistics is the property owner and was represented by Steve Wagner, Louis Tomaselli and Zach Niles from JLL.

The Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) today released U.S. airlines’ July fuel cost and consumption numbers indicating U.S. scheduled service airlines used 1.52 billion gallons of fuel, 5.6% more fuel than in June 2022 (1.44B gallons) and 9.5% less than in pre-pandemic July 2019. The cost per gallon of fuel in July 2022 ($3.71) was down 33 cents (8.2%) from June 2022 ($4.04) and up $1.73 (87.4%) from July 2019. Total July 2022 fuel expenditure ($5.64B) was down 3.3% from June 2022 ($5.83B) and up 69.9% from pre-pandemic July 2019.

Stena Polaris supports Operation Pacer Goose to Greenland

At the beginning of August 2022, Stena Polaris participated in US Air Force’s annual re-supply mission Pacer Goose. The purpose of the mission is to re-supply the US Thule Air Base in the northwest corner of Greenland with life-sustaining supplies, i.e. fuels, building materials, vehicles and other types of heavier supplies. The operation is carried out every year in July or August, the only time of year weather conditions permit and when the ice is at its thinnest.
