• These figures are similar to those of the previous year and highlight the activity carried out by the port and logistics community during the Covid-19 pandemic • In December, 485,404 containers (+17.23%) and 7,226,777 tonnes of goods (+17.60%) were handled • Since August, 2,459,640 TEUs have been moved, with an average of 492,000 TEUs, and there were two months that exceeded 500,000 containers • The export activity of the last five months (containerised cargo), with an average growth of over 11 per cent, has supported the recovery after the toughest months of the pandemic (May-July) • Containerised general cargo closed the year with 63.26 million tonnes, 2.49% more than in 2019. On Friday 15 January, Damen Shipyards Group handed over a new, next-generation, Damen RSD Tug 2513 to Tug Malta, Malta’s leading tug operator. Named Senglea, after the nearby, historic city of the same name, she joins a fleet that already has a number of Damen ASD tugs, but is the first RSD tug to operate in the region.
