PD Ports, owner and operator of Teesport, the fifth largest port in the UK, has contracted Konecranes to convert the primary power supply of four diesel-driven Rubber Tired Gantry Cranes (RTGs) to electric, boosting operational efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. The order was booked in August 2021.

Terminal San Giorgio S.r.l. (TSG) has ordered an eco-efficient Konecranes Gottwald ESP.8 Mobile Harbor Crane for its terminal in Genoa, Italy. Booked in November 2021, it is the very first Generation 6 crane to go to Italy. It will be delivered in June 2022.

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has signed an agreement with MSC PSA European Terminal (MPET) and PSA Antwerp to deliver a total of 34 Kalmar Straddle Carriers for their terminals in Antwerp, Belgium. Of the machines, 29 will be delivered to MPET and five to PSA Antwerp.

The second of Damen’s new Shoalbuster 2711 class was handed over to its owner Ports of Jersey on 11 November in a christening ceremony held at Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld. First introduced in 2019, the compact, 27-metre Shoalbuster 2711 provides an extra two metres of beam compared to its predecessor, the Shoalbuster 2709, for extra space both on and below decks, as well as added stability.

A unique solar-powered smart buoy is now being tested in the Stockholm fairway. As part of the Intelligent Sea EU project, Ports of Stockholm is testing smart navigational markers, among other things for improved efficiency of service and maintenance. The navigational markers will be more sustainable and also withstand severe icy weather conditions.

The new MOD 1100/2000t spreader beam at 33m span, which was the latest addition to Modulift’s modular range of popular DNV Type Approved spreader beams, has been used in it’s very first lift in Dover in the UK. The successful first lift was carried out by its new owner, heavy lifting rental company, Safe Lifting Europe B.V for their customer Bonn & Mees Floating Cranes.
