CMA CGM fleet centerThe newly inaugurated CMA CGM Navigation and Port Operations Center in Singapore CMA CGM Group, a leading worldwide shipping group, announced the opening of its Navigation and Port Operations Center in APL’s corporate headquarters in Singapore, on January 11. A ceremony was held on the presence of Rodolphé Saadé, Vice-Chairman of the CMA CGM Group. CMA CGM chose Singapore to implement this Navigation and Port Operations Center, a critical navigation support unit of the group’s vessel operations. It reflects CMA CGM’s commitment to strengthen the Group’s presence in Singapore and reinforce the city-state’s role as a key maritime hub. Designed to be the Group’s third navigation command center to its combined fleet of more than 500 container vessels, the state-of-the-art facility leverages the latest navigation assistance tools and technologies to track and examine wide-ranging nautical, meteorological and geographic information in real-time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The center in Singapore is dedicated to serving the Asian time zone; the Group’s two other centers – located in CMA CGM’s corporate headquarters in Marseille, France, and its regional office in Miami in the United States – take charge of the European and Americas time zones respectively. Based on live analytics of the vessels’ operating speeds, ocean currents, weather forecasts and high traffic areas, each center’s team of experts are empowered to assess, anticipate and mitigate any navigation-related risks to the Group’s vessel operations. Accurate guidance and alerts are provided to its deck officers on how vessel routes, speeds and fuel consumption can be optimised across its fleet, while ensuring the safety of its crews and vessels globally.
