Washington, DC – This week, the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure will hold three subcommittee hearings to gather stakeholder perspectives that will assist the Committee in continuing to develop proposals focused on building a 21st century infrastructure for America.  On Tuesday morning, the Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation, chaired by U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA), will hold a hearing focused on the needs of the Coast Guard and what the service will need to protect our critical maritime infrastructure.  The hearing, entitled, “Building a 21st Century Infrastructure for America: Coast Guard Stakeholders’ Perspectives,” is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, in 2167 Rayburn House Office Building. On Tuesday afternoon, the Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials, chaired by U.S. Rep. Jeff Denham (R-CA), will hold a hearing to gather stakeholder perspectives on what railroads, rail suppliers, and rail labor need to build a 21st century rail infrastructure.  The hearing, entitled, “Building a 21st Century Infrastructure for America: Rail Stakeholders’ Perspectives,” is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, in 2167 Rayburn House Office Building. On Wednesday morning, the Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management, chaired by U.S. Rep. Lou Barletta (R-PA), will hold a hearing focused on proposals to strengthen economic development programs, and to address the building and rebuilding of disaster-resistant infrastructure to reduce disaster costs.  The hearing, entitled, “Building a 21st Century Infrastructure for America: Economic Development Stakeholders’ Perspectives,” hearing is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, in 2167 Rayburn House Office Building.
