ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Con-way Freight, the less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier and subsidiary of Con-way Inc. (NYSE: CNW), announced today the promotion of Lori A. Blaney to vice president of national account sales. Blaney began her career with Con-way in 1993 as an account manager and undertakes her new duties immediately.  In her new role, she assumes the leadership of Con-way Freight’s national account sales organization, heading a team of more than 40 senior sales professionals focused on large, multilocation retail, industrial and manufacturing shippers in North America. Her responsibilities directing the national account team include sales strategy and operations planning, customer solution development, customer acquisition strategies, sales training, personnel development and the application of Lean methodologies and practices to sales processes. Based in Ann Arbor, she reports to Stephen F. Dean, Con-way Freight’s senior vice president of sales.   “Lori’s extensive experience, team-building skills and intuitive knowledge of our customers and our business will be considerable assets as she heads up our national account sales efforts,” said Dean. “She’s a valuable complement to our executive team, and we look forward to her insights and expertise as she leads the strategic growth and development of our national account sales efforts.”   Blaney’s 20-plus-year career at Con-way has seen her advance through a variety of positions with increasing responsibility, including account executive, marketing manager, manager of business development and human resources, director of business development, sales manager and director of sales operations. She is a 2014 graduate of Con-way’s Advanced Leadership Preparation for Highest Achievement (ALPHA) program and has been recognized with the company’s Quarterly Leadership Award.
