Con-way Inc. announced that Thomas Nightingale has joined the company as Vice President of Communications and Chief Marketing Officer.

Mr. Nightingale brings to the Con-way organization a diverse background of marketing and sales experience with leading transportation, logistics and supply chain firms. In his new position, he will serve as the company's top marketing executive, responsible for worldwide corporate marketing strategy, research, product development, program planning and support for Con-way's freight transportation and global contract logistics businesses. He reports to Douglas W. Stotlar, president and chief executive officer of Con-way.

'Tom is an experienced and respected executive whose proven skills in global brand development and corporate marketing strategy complement our team,' said Stotlar. 'I'm confident his knowledge and insight will contribute significantly to our growth initiatives and the continued building of our brand under the Con-way banner.'

He joins Con-way from Schneider National, Inc., where since 2002 he has been vice president of corporate marketing. Prior to Schneider, he worked in senior marketing, sales leadership and operations roles for several transportation, logistics and supply chain companies, including Clareon, a B2B payment software subsidiary of FleetBoston Financial; Paxis, a supply chain services joint venture between GATX and Lockheed Martin; CSX Transportation; and United Parcel Service.

Mr. Nightingale holds a bachelor's degree in International Marketing/Management from Siena College. He received his MBA from Syracuse University, where he completed graduate studies in Organization and Management.
